Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, is located at Tilaurakot in Kapilvastu district.
There is a place called Pragtinagar at a distance of about 25 kilometers from Narayangarh Bazaar. There is a place called Kavasoti, about 5 km west of Pragtinagar, Daldale. Lumbini is located at a distance of 82-83 kilometers from Kavasoti. Sunwal is reached from Kavsoti via Tamsaria, New Belhani, Bardaghat and Ramgram Butwal. Lumbini is about 21-22 kilometers from Sunwal. It takes about 30 minutes by bus. You can also go by other motor rickshaws.

Mayadevi Temple:

  Of all the heritages in this holy place, Mayadevi temple is the main attraction. The different levels of the temple built in different centuries shed light on its importance and antiquity. An ancient Mayadevi idol with the birth scene of Lord Buddha is located inside this temple. The ruins inside the temple date back to BC. From the third century to the seventh century. 

Birthstone:

    
       The memorial stone is in a deep room. Which clearly shows the birth point of Lord Buddha. The stone was discovered in 1996 after intensive excavations at the Mayadevi temple complex. 

Mayadevi idol:

  The idol of Mayadevi is also called the birth idol. Built in the 4th century, the statue depicts the birth of Lord Buddha. Mayadevi holds a tree branch with her right hand for support. His sister Prajapati is standing on the left side while the two deities are seen preparing to take the Lord and the statue of the newborn Buddha is seen in the middle. 

Holy Pool:

To the south of the Ashoka Pillar is the sacred pool. It is believed that Mayadevi bathed here after giving birth to Lord Buddha and the Lord was also purified by taking the first bath here. 

Ashoka Pillar:

The inscription carved on the Ashoka Pillar gives historical evidence about the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha. The inscription on this pillar is the most important official and historical record concerning the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Lumbini. 

It is forbidden to take photos inside the temple. Photos can be taken outside the temple. In some temples, photos are not allowed. Gumbas, temples are surrounded by statues of Buddha. There are also pictures and statues related to the life of the Buddha reminding us of various events. Planted flowers, green plants are good. Go to Lumbini once and enjoy the tranquility of the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha and return forgetting all your sorrows and pains. Thanks!
